Jason Dyer recently wrote about using systems in the context of playing football. I couldn't leave well enough alone and so I made an applet modelling the relationship between the projectile motion of a football and the linear motion of a receiver.
I know, the picture is a little cheesy, but it's fun and the kids love it.

WoW! This is awesome! For serious ... now how am I supposed to get any work done when there when i can be playing football. Who needs graphics when you got gameplay!
No doubt. We are going to build a golf course too. Gotta find a way to get kids thinking about projectiles. Glad you like it.
I'm sure this is especially great with your middle schoolers...they love the cheese, right?
I'm excited to see the golf course. :-)
Oh yeah, they love the cheese. We unveiled the golf course the other day and now kids are working on their own applets. They are making quite a bit of progress. The only real help I'm having to give is in how the expressions should be entered into GeoGebra to make it work. Fun stuff!
